Sarah Hueniken is one on the worlds most capable and accomplished climbing professionals. She specializes in mixed and ice climbing which is a wild mix of rock wall and frozen waterfalls. Over the years she has also become an industry-leading guide, teaching women of all ages and skill levels, bringing them out into the mountains, helping them level up their lives.

Two and a half years ago, on an annual guiding camp near Field, BC, the Massey’s avalanche fell directly onto six of the climbers tragically killing one of Sarah’s closest friends, Sonja Johnson Findlater. It was a massive moment in the world of climbing and a personally devastating experience for Sarah. Her partner Will Gadd said it best, “Sarah lost her friend, her trust in the mountains, her career, and, for long periods of time, her belief in herself as a worthwhile human”

“The film Not Alone documents Arc’teryx athlete Sarah Hueniken’s intense journey from digging her friend out of a fatal avalanche to finding new reasons to live and love again. How do you move forward after losing a friend throws your career as a guide and belief in yourself into question?” Lisa Richardson, Arc’teryx
