Trail Films was privileged to partner with Tree Canada, the Tłı̨chǫ Government, Let’s Plat Trees and L’Oréal Canada to tell a story of resilience, recovery, and hope.

Following record-breaking wildfires in the Northwest Territories that devastated the habitat of the threatened Bathurst caribou, a historic initiative was launched to plant millions trees and heal the land. This project is built on the Tłı̨chǫ principle of ‘Strong Like Two People which bridges Indigenous Traditional Knowledge with Western science.

To support this massive undertaking, Trail Films worked for months alongside Tree Canada’s Ricardo D'Aguiar to write and edit a comprehensive suite of over 50 unique video assets, including a main documentary film, promotional ads, and an array of social content.

Drawing on cinematic footage from our 2024 film KǪ̀K’ETÌ, we aimed to capture not just the spirit of the planters, the logistics of planting trees in a part of the world where planting has never been done before, but to enshrine the deep spiritual connection between the Tłı̨chǫ people and the lands they call home.

Dedicated to the memory of Joshua Patenaude.
